Our Story

Hello, my name is Andres Dominguez, founder of Julian’s Echo.

Julian’s Echo was born from the loss of my son, Baby Julian, who passed away in 2016 at just a month and a half old. Losing a child changed me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. I learned to compartmentalize the pain, put my head down, and tell everyone I was fine. After Julian passed, I threw myself into my work as a barber here in Las Vegas, Nevada. In many ways, work became a place where I could escape the silence of going home to an empty house.

But something unexpected happened behind the barber chair. As I listened to my clients and the people who came into my life, I began hearing stories of loss, grief, trauma, and struggles of their own. I realized that so many people were carrying things they rarely talked about. And through all those conversations, I kept hearing a common feeling: “I just feel like nobody around me understands. How could they? They’ve never lost a child.”

I understood that feeling deeply. Even with the love, support, and condolences from friends and family, there were moments when the words simply didn't reach the place where the pain lived. There is something uniquely difficult about grieving a child, and sometimes what a grieving person needs most isn't an explanation or the perfect words—they simply need someone who understands and a safe place to begin healing.

That realization became the foundation for Julian’s Echo. I made a promise to myself that one day I would build something that could help people get in front of the support they need, rather than having to navigate grief and hardship alone. Years later, I opened my own barbershop and eventually grew it into two locations, always carrying that vision with me. The shops became more than businesses; they became places where conversations happened, stories were shared, and I was reminded again and again just how many people were looking for someone to listen.

What I didn't expect was how many people, after hearing Julian’s story, would say, “I want to be part of this.” With the encouragement of a fellow coworker, I finally started making the calls and turning an idea into something bigger than myself.

Today, Julian’s Echo is supported by a board of nine volunteers who have chosen to give their time, their hearts, and their talents to help bring this mission to life.

We are here because we believe no one should have to feel alone in their journey. Our goal is to help individuals, parents, and siblings find the resources, guidance, and support they need to move forward. We may not be able to take away someone's pain, but we can help make sure they don't have to carry it by themselves.

Julian’s Echo exists because one little boy left an impact that continues to grow.
